TEAM IMPROVEMENT

Team initiated Professional development

A local school district professional development project that involves the ECSE team practitioners, including parents in the improvement of practice. The focus is on the planning, preparation, implement, and evaluation of IFSP/IEP meetings and reports. Parent/professional communication is critical. Ability to explain information, ask and respond to questions is necessary. Concerns about effective use of interactions between child, parent, and other members of the team have increased interest in and importance of trans-disciplinary practice over the last 50 years. Interventions once or twice a week did not have the impact of sharing methods and materials used to be employed at home and in centers across disciplines during all activities and interventions. Readers are encouraged to see additional materials presented in RESCOURCES chapter..

Below are images from a power point presentation which detailed a school district’s plan to actively involve local staff and parents in improving effectiveness of their shared work across the team with a focus on parent participation in the IEP process.
